Biography

Charles Styles

Charles Styles is a British tenor from the West Midlands, now based in the United States. He is scheduled to graduate from the Yale School of Music in 2026. While at Yale, he has performed the role of Vaudemont in Tchaikovsky's Iolanta and Araquil in Massenet's La Navarraise. Charles initially pursued a career in academia, earning a BA in Philosophy and Theology and an MPhil in Philosophical Theology, both from Oxford, before deciding to become a tenor. He made his professional operatic debut in 2022 with the Glyndebourne Chorus. A highlight of his career came in March 2023 when he made his critically acclaimed London debut, stepping in for Stuart Skelton on short notice for the world premiere of Iain Bell's Beowulf. Next year he is scheduled to perform the role of Rodolfo in La bohème and opera scenes as Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana.
