Baritone, Chase Côté, is an emerging artist currently based Baton Rouge, LA, pursuing his Master of Music at LSU. In his 24/25 season, he sang the role of Gianni Schicchi for Art City Opera, he attended Castleton Festival as a vocal fellow, he covered the baritone soloist in the Philadelphia premiere of Listen to the Earth by James Grant, and he attended Seagle Festival where he performed the roles Tommy in Brigadoon, and Masetto in Don Giovanni.

Biography

Chase Côté

Baritone, Chase Côté, is an emerging professional singer currently based in Philadelphia. As an active competitor, Chase most recently received an encouragement award for the National Society of Arts and Letters' Shirley Rabb Winston competition at the national level. For the D.C. district, he was awarded first place in the competition. In 2024, Chase competed in the Philadelphia district of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont competition, was a finalist for Opera Grand Rapids’ VanderLaan Prize, and won first place in NATS Eastern Region. In 2022, he received both second place for NATS Eastern Region and second place in the NSAL Shirley Rabb Winston Scholarship. 

​In the summers of 2024 and 2023, Chase was an emerging artist at Seagle Festival, in which he sang the roles of Tommy Albright in Lerner and Loewe’s Brigadoon, and Masetto in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Gregório in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, and The Big Bad Wolf in Andrew Duncan’s children’s opera, The Ugly Duckling. 

Chase graduated from Temple University with his Bachelor of Music in May 2024. Credits during his time with Temple Opera Theater include: the role of Junius from Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia in 2023, and covering Il Conte in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro in 2022. In April 2024, Chase performed as baritone soloist: The Fence, in Craig Hella Johnson’s fusion-oratorio, Considering Matthew Shepard for the Temple University Concert Choir. As part of the vocal performance curriculum, he presented his senior recital in March 2024, and performed in multiple scenes programs, including the roles of Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Charlie (Three Decembers), Fredrik Egarman (A Little Night Music), and Pa (Proving Up). In the fall of 2025, Chase will attend Louisiana State University for his Master of Music, under the tutelage of Paul Groves and Robert Grayson.
