Born and raised in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, soprano Chase Sanders is pursuing a Performance Diploma in Vocal Performance under the instruction of Heidi Grant Murphy at Indiana University. Chase is a recent graduate of the Master’s Vocal Performance program at IU and was most recently seen in IU Opera Theater’s production of Don Giovanni as Donna Elvira. Other performances with the IU Opera Theater include Mary in Highway 1, USA, the title role in L’incoronazione di Poppea and the Governess in The Turn of the Screw. This past summer, Chase made her professional debut as a Festival Artist with Opera Saratoga and sang the role of Elder 1 in their production of Sky on Swings. She was also a recipient of the Michigan District Encouragement Award in this past year’s Metropolitan Opera’s Laffont Competition. She completed her Bachelor of Music at West Chester University (WCU). There, she performed the role of Mother in WCU Opera Theatre & Uptown Theatre Alliance’s production of Amahl and the Night Visitors. She also performed the role of Mrs. Jenks/Splinters in WCU’s production of The Tender Land and was a soloist in the WCU Symphony Orchestra’s Concerto Competition Winner’s Concert.
