Biography

Christina Seo Young Kim

Soprano Seo Young Christina Kim, a lyric-spinto soprano from Seoul, South Korea,

is renowned for her voice, which embodies the textures of light and shadow with a chiaroscuro quality.

She is currently pursuing her Master of Music degree at the Mannes School of Music in New York City, where she studies with Laquita Mitchell and Anthony Manoli.

She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Chugye University for the Arts in Seoul.

 

Equally active on the operatic and concert stage, Kim performed the role of Sir Elton John’s Trainer in Vinkensport, or The Finch Opera by David T. Little with Mannes Opera during the 2024–25 season.

She also appeared in the Mannes Sounds Project, performing works by Charles-Valentin Alkan at Victor Borge Hall at Scandinavia House.

In 2022, she participated in the Valencia International Performance Academy & Festival in Spain, where she deepened her artistry through intensive study with renowned international faculty.

 

In the upcoming season, she will appear in Busoni’s Turandot and another Busoni work, as well as in the New York premiere of Erich Korngold’s Die Stumme Serenade.

 

Seo Young Christina Kim views music as a sincere form of emotional expression and human connection. She seeks to bring beauty, authenticity, and spiritual depth to every performance, believing in the power of music to uplift and inspire both artist and audience.
