Christine Lyons has been hailed a “true virtuosa” by Broadway World, exclaimed a “revelation” by Gay City News, and praised for her “potent soprano” by Opera Magazine. In the 2019-20 season, Lyons sung Cio-Cio San in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly with Baltimore Concert Opera, Leonora in Verdi’s Il Trovatore at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C., and sings the title role in Donizetti’s Anna Bolena with dell’Arte Opera Ensemble (postponed). She appeared in concert throughout the season with Annapolis Opera, Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Tuscon Desert Song Festival and the Ravinia Festival. Earlier role highlights include Norma with Winter Opera Saint Louis (nominated for the “Outstanding Achievement in Opera” award from the 2020 St. Louis Theater Circle,) La Straniera at Lincoln Center, Leonora in Il Trovatore at The Kennedy Center, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni at Carnegie Hall, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, Amenaide in Tancredi rifatto with Teatro Nuovo, Giulietta in I Capuleti e i Montecchi with Saltworks Opera, Adina in L’Elisir d’amore with City Lyric Opera, and Susannah in concert at Wolf Trap. Ms. Lyons is the Grand Prize Winner of the Mary Trueman Art Song Vocal Competition (ASPSNY), and other top awards from the Gerda Lissner Foundation, Vocal Arts DC Discovery Art Song Competition, the Opera Columbus Cooper-Bing Internat'l Vocal Competition, and Washington Internat'l Competition. She has been a featured artist on WWFM Classical’s “Celebrating Our Musical Future” live radio program.
