Christof Loy is one of the most internationally sought-after opera and theatre directors of his generation. His meticulously crafted productions have earned him numerous awards. He has been named Director of the Year several times by Opernwelt magazine. In 2017 he was named Director of the year at the International Opera Awards, where he also won the 2016 award for "Best New Production" for Britten's Peter Grimes at the Theater an der Wien. He has an intensive and long-standing collaboration with many of the world's leading opera houses: Theatre an der Wien (Peter Grimes, Maria Stuarda, Euryanthe and Zazà), the Bavarian State Opera (Lucrezia Borgia, Roberto Devereux and Nozze di Figaro), the Zurich Opera House (La Straniera, Alcina, Capuleti e Montecchi and Don Pasquale), the Salzburg Festival (Theodora, Frau ohne Schatten, Ariodante and Così fan tutte), the Royal Opera Stockholm (La Fanciulla del West, Parsifal, Der Rosenkavalier and Der Ferne Klang), Royal Opera House Covent Garden (Ariadne auf Naxos, Lulu and Tristan und Isolde), De Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam (Arabella, Khovanshchina, La Forza del Destino and Tannhäuser), the Teatro Real Madrid (Capriccio and Rusalka) and many more.
