Biography

Connor Chaikowsky

Connor Chaikowsky is working on his Bachelor's of Violin Performance at Rice’s Shepherd School with Paul Kantor.  Originally a native of Baltimore Maryland, he was a member of the Peabody Preparatory’s Pre-Consevatory Violin Program, concertmaster of the Peabody Youth Orchestra, and studied with Andrea Picard-Boecker ​ He has performed in masterclasses for David Kim, Martin Beaver, and Mimi Zweig, in chamber music classes for the Brooklyn Rider, Parker, Borromeo, Juilliard, and Orion String Quartets, and has worked extensively with Violaine Melançon, Midori Goto, and Johanne Arel.   He has appeared in various Baltimore Concert series, performing with the Lark Quartet in the Candlelight Concert Series, in the Chamber Music Society of Maryland Series as a Reinecke Youth Fellow.  He has also performed as a solo recitalist for the Violin Society of America at Oberlin Conservatory, with the Piano Guys at the Lyric Opera House, and at the Kennedy Center with the PCVP. ​ Connor has played in sold out concerts in Carnegie Hall as a member of the 2017 New York String Orchestra Seminar, and in Switzerland with the 2018 and 2019 Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra, where he served on programs as Assistant Concertmaster and Principal Second Violin. In 2019 he won Verbier's Prix de APCAV for spirit of the festival and community engagement.   Connor has engaged in multidisciplinary projects such as “Dream Machine” at the YoungArts Miami Program, which combined chamber music, animation, choreography, and staging to present the experience of a dream through music.  Other projects include the Innovation Lab at the National Orchestral Institute + Festival, and the Verbier Festival’s Open Air Concerts. He has also collaborated with musicians and learned chops and Scottish fiddling at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Blair School of Music in Nashville.
