Courtney Elvira is a Mexican-American, mezzo-soprano with her hometown roots in Pinellas County, FL. Courtney began her career as an opera singer, singing for Dayton Opera; Brava! Opera Theater; Opera Ithaca; Des Moines Metro Opera; Opera Saratoga; Kentucky Opera; Opera Ithaca; St. Petersburg Opera; Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, and Savannah Voice Festival.
Her awards and honors include winning the West Tennessee District (2020) and Connecticut District Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (2018), and an Encouragement Award from the Iowa District MONC (2016). She was also a Finalist in the Butler Opera International Vocal Competition (2019). Ms. Elvira was the recent recipient of the Creative Pinellas 2022 Professional Artist Grant ($5000) for her career achievements.
Ms. Elvira maintains an active commercial, film and theater career as well. She’s appeared in local commercials for Citizens Bank & Trust; HSN (Carol’s Daughter Hair Care); CoolToday Thermostat; Cosy House Bedding; Hyatt Regency Clearwater; and Echelon Bike; AND e-training series for JW Marriot and UF Literacy; Additionally, She played M’Lynn in Mountain Mover Theatre Company’s (KY) Steel Magnolias this May 2022; appeared as Sue Bayliss in the JSTAGE series production of All My Sons and Blanche Morton in Brighton Beach Memoirs with Vivid Theatre Productions; she’ll be reviving her role of Blanche in Vivid’s upcoming production of Broadway Bound this August. Finally, she made her feature film debut as Principal Marta Gutierrez in Nightmare PTA Moms (premiered July, 10th, 2022) and also finished a role in her first SAG feature, Project Baby this past July, to be released in the coming months. She finally appeared as Officer Ramirez in Bad Tenant for Lifetime. .
Ms. Elvira is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University with her MM in Vocal Performance (2015), under the tutelage of Maria Spacagna. She now studies with soprano Kirsten Chambers. Ms. Elvira also takes On-Camera acting with Lee Perkins in St. Petersburg, FL; She is currently participating in Station 12 Studio's Core and Improv classes, hosted by Eugenie Bondurant (The Conjuring 3; The Hunger Games)
