German-American mezzo-soprano Daniela Magura is quickly establishing herself as a distinguished interpreter of opera and art song. Praised for her passionate and sensitive performances, Ms. Magura devotes herself to harnessing music’s power to connect and heal. This season, Ms. Magura makes her debut with the Opera Theatre of Saint-Louis as a Gerdine Young Artist, performing the roles of Second Spirit in The Magic Flute and Lucy in Tobias Picker’s Awakenings. Ms. Magura also appears regularly as a Featured Artist with Gulfshore Opera. While a Young Artist with the Chautauqua Opera Company in 2020, she performed in their Virtual Season of concerts and masterclasses and had prepared to perform Anne in The Mother of Us All. This performance was regrettably canceled due to the global pandemic, as was her performance as Venere in La Dafne with Mannes Opera. Previous seasons featured performances as The Fox in Rachel Portman’s The Little Prince with the Savannah Voice Festival, Flora in La Traviata with the Northern Lights Music Festival, Olga in Eugene Onegin with Mannes Opera, and Dorabella in Così fan tutte at Opera America. Ms. Magura holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the Mannes School of Music. She has trained and performed internationally at the Sankt Goar Music Festival in Germany, the International Vocal Arts Institute in New York, Classic Lyric Arts in France, and the Sherrill Milnes VOICE Program in Georgia. Outside of performing, Ms. Magura coordinates Media Marketing for Classic Lyric Arts and operates a thriving vocal studio.
