Biography

David Pelino

Haitian-American vocalist David Pelino brings his “powerful tenor” (South Florida Classical Review) to venues across America. He is equally at home on the concert stage, in opera, recital and with professional ensembles. He currently is the tenor resident artist at the Lyric Opera of Kansas City for the 2025-26 season.

In concert, David has been able to sing with reputable arts organizations such as Bach Akademie Charlotte and the Illinois Bach Academy. His most recent concert debut was as Uriel in Haydn’s The Creation with the Choral Arts Alliance of Missouri and the Leme Ensemble under the direction of Dr. R. Paul Crabb. His versatile, lyric instrument has enabled him to be the soloist in other major works such as Handel’s Messiah, Theodore Dubois’s The Seven Last Words of Christ, Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb, Adolphus Hailstork’s I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes, and as the Evangelist in J.S. Bach’s St. John Passion.

On the stage, he recently made his role debuts with the Bayview Music Festival as Don Jose in Georges Bizet’s Carmen and Booker T. Washington in the musical, Ragtime. His other role credits include Wesley Harris in Paul Moravec’s Sanctuary Road, Sam Polk in Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah, Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance, and King Kaspar in Amahl and the Night Visitors.

David’s commitment to art song has been demonstrated with his recent work with Vocal Arts D.C., an organization committed to the proliferation of art song in the Washington D.C. area, and a recent recital at Columbia College, in Columbia, MO.

As an ensemble singer, David performs with some of the top professional choirs in the nation. He sings at the Washington National Cathedral and is currently on the rosters of Seraphic Fire, Handel + Haydn Society, Bach Vocal Artists, Kinnara, the American Spiritual Ensemble, and Prometheus.
