Dirén Checa (Mexico City, 1997). Mexican violinist dedicated to interpreting new music, working with living composers, and creating cutting-edge sound experiences. She studied at Eastman School of Music and Interlochen Arts Academy, and she has studied and taken master classes with teachers such as Adrián Justus, Irvine Arditti, Igor Petrushevski, Martin Chalifour, Bin Huang and Federico Agostini. She is part of the OJUEM orchestra and is a regular guest of the Mexico City Philharmonic. She recently won the violin audition of the CEPROMUSIC Contemporary Music Ensemble and begins her residency in January 2024. She has won awards and participated in international festivals such as Festival Cervantino, Diferencial at CENART and Mostly Modern Festival. She has premiered 5 of works with dedicated to her. Her contemporary music project Music of Sound has been presented at different venues, including the Mexican National Art Museum (MUNAL) and the Jumex Museum.
