Biography

Eleanor Mayerfeld

Soprano Eleanor Mayerfeld is a dynamic performer hailing from Madison, Wisconsin. She made her lead role debut in 2023 as Susanna in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro at the Miami Music Festival, where she was praised for her “free, clear top range and finely pointed phrasing” (South Florida Classical Review). Since then, she has appeared as Pamina in The Magic Flute with Opera for the Young, Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel at the Longy School of Music, and as a concert soloist with Madison Bach Musicians, Just Bach, and the AIMS Festival Orchestra.

In addition to her work in the core operatic and concert repertoire, Eleanor is committed to uplifting works from underrepresented communities and amplifying diverse voices in classical music. She was the soprano soloist in the world premiere of Salve Regina by Ukrainian composer Dmytro Malyi, a choral work dedicated to Ukraine and the victims of the Russian invasion. She has also championed rare Yiddish art song, performing the U.S. premiere of music by Helen Medwedeff Greenberg in a recent recital, bringing to light repertoire that reflects her own heritage and linguistic fluency.

Eleanor holds an MM in Voice from the Longy School of Music of Bard College and a BA in Music from Middlebury College. Fluent in French and Yiddish, with additional proficiency in German, Spanish, and Russian, she brings linguistic authenticity and cultural insight to her performances. Dedicated to both mainstage excellence and community engagement, she combines vibrant stage presence, collaborative artistry, and a deep passion for connecting with audiences through meaningful and inclusive storytelling.
