Colombian-American soprano Ella Torres is committed to performing a diverse variety of music. She particularly enjoys interpreting German Lieder, off-the-beaten-path art songs, and works by American composers. The Spoleto Festival USA Orchestra and Chorus unite for a jubilant production of Joseph Haydn’s 1798 oratorio The Creation. The three-act masterwork chronicles the biblical creation narrative from emptiness to Eden, entwining Haydn’s exultant score with a vivid libretto drawn from Genesis, Psalms, and John Milton’s Paradise Lost—in a riveting journey from chaos to order. This diverse program of sacred and secular works spans classical and contemporary and featuring music by Spoleto Chamber series composer-in-residence Reena Esmail, Russian masterworks, and Ugis Praulins’ epic Laudibus in Sanctis. Director of Choral Activities Joe Miller helms a captivating concert brimming with rich sonorities and subtle nuances.

Recent performances include Serpetta in Mozart's La finta giardiniera (Indiana University), Niña in Osvaldo Golijov's Ainadamar (Indiana University), Dora in Lori Laitman’s The Three Feathers (Opera Steamboat Opera Artist Institute), Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte (Chicago Summer Opera), and Polyxo/Soprano 3 in Kate Soper's Here Be Sirens (Suite) (Eastman School of Music).
Ella is recently graduated with an M.M. in voice from the Jacobs School of Music. She holds a B.M. in voice and arts leadership certificate from the Eastman School of Music. In addition to performing, Ella does administrative work for severval organizations.
