Elliott Lentz is a dynamic conductor, educator, & clinician who was named as Artistic Director & Conductor for the Circle City Orchestra in the Fall of 2021 which he will lead in 4 performances this season at the Basile Theatre at the Historic Athenaeum in downtown Indianapolis. Simultaneously he started his 12th year teaching in the public schools as Director of Orchestras at North Central High School. Lentz completed his Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Ball State University in 2009 where he was actively involved with the School of Music. During his time at BSU, he studied trumpet with Professor Paul Everett (Retired Principal Trumpet, Muncie Symphony Orchestra) and conducting with Dr. Thomas Caneva. Other conducting mentors have included Maestro Matthew Kraemer (Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra), Professor Douglas Droste (Ball State University), and Professor Barry Houser (University of Illinois). Additional studies have included masterclasses with Maestros Ken Kielser (University of Michigan), Kevin Noe (UMKC Conservatory), Soo Han (George Mason University), & Paula Crider (University of Texas, Emerita). As a versatile conductor, Lentz has shown success with orchestras, wind bands, & live stage productions. His experience with live stage productions include Mamma Mia! (Fall 2021), The 20th Annual Putnum County Spelling Bee (Spring 2021 - Assistant), & The Little Mermaid (Fall 2019). He has accepted opportunities to guest lecture for the Indiana Music Educators Association (IMEA) Professional Development Conference (Winter 2021) and the Ball State University ASTA Chapter (Spring 2018). Invitations to serve as guest conductor include the Indiana Bandmasters Association (IBA) All-District (Fall 2017) and All-Region (Fall 2016) Honor Bands, and numerous ensembles around the state of Indiana. As an advocate of music education, Lentz is an Ambassador with Citizen Artists Kids, an organization providing experiences to young children to learn about Opera.
