Praised for her musicality and stage presence, American mezzo-soprano Emily Anderson has performed domestically and internationally in operatic roles such as Dorabella in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte, Suzuki in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly and the Sorceress in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. A lover of new opera, she premiered the roles of the Super fan in Nathan Felix’s Glory Gone and Fleury in his work The Paños Prophecy in 2023. She was most recently an Apprentice Artist with Sarasota Opera in 2025, where she covered the role of Dorothea in Verdi’s Stiffelio.
She has been a member of prestigious ensembles such as the Opera Colorado Chorus and the Colorado Bach Ensemble, as well as performed in collaborative concerts with the Boulder Bach Festival and the Bach Society of Houston. She has performed as part of outreach initiatives with companies along the Front Range, including Central City Opera, Boulder Opera Company, Loveland Opera Theatre, and Opera Fort Collins. She has also competed in competitions such as the Denver Lyric Opera Guild Aria Competition and the Laffont Competition. Her most recent roles include the Fairy Queen in Loveland Opera Theatre’s Iolanthe and the Fox and Coachman in Boulder Opera Company’s Pinocchio. She can next be seen as Butch’s Mother in the world premiere of Butch Cassidy Hops a Train with Opera Contempo.
