Emily Baker

Praised for her “ample, gleaming soprano,” Emily Baker recently completed her third season at Opera Neo in San Diego, California. At Opera Neo, Emily brought “welcome focus” to her performance as Linfea in La Calisto and “set off fireworks” in her concert performances in scenes as Aïda and Rosalinde. In 2018, Emily performed as Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni with the North End Performing Arts Center in Boston and as Micaëla in Carmen with PanOpera in western Massachusetts. While completing her master’s degree and performance diploma at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, Emily performed as Giorgetta in Puccini's Il tabarro, Berta in Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia, and Zweite Dame in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte. She was the 2014 Indiana District Encouragement Award winner of The Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and a recent finalist in the Rochester International Vocal Competition. In 2020, Emily was set to make her debut as Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte with Windham Orchestra and perform the titular role in Suor Angelica with Greater Worcester Opera, both engagements postponed due to COVID-19. Throughout the past season, Ms. Baker was featured in concerts with PanOpera. In summer 2021, Ms. Baker was a part of the Russian Opera Workshop where she virtually studied the role of Tatyana in Eugene Onegin. In addition to her active performing career, Emily is passionate music educator currently working in Western Massachusetts.
