Biography

Emily Garcia

Emily Garcia is a soprano from Houston, Texas. This past season, she performed the title role of Alcina from Handel’s Alcina at Carnegie Mellon University. Emily has sung partial roles such as, Donna Elvira from Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Magda from Puccini’s La Rondine, Micaëla from Bizet’s Carmen, and Countess Almaviva from Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro. Emily has performed at Lonestar Kingwood Summer Opera Workshop where she sang the role of Dido in Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell. Emily has participated in Los Angeles Opera’s HBCU Opera Career Comprehensive with the direction of tenor, Russell Thomas. In 2023, Emily was a soloist for the Carnegie Mellon University School of Music Philharmonic Orchestra’s performance in Bach’s The Christmas Oratorio. Emily recently graduated with a Master of Music degree with a concentration in Vocal Performance from Carnegie Mellon University. At Carnegie Mellon University, she studied voice under Sari Gruber. Prior to attending Carnegie Mellon University, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Prairie View A&M University. At Prairie View A&M University, Emily was under the tutelage of Dr. Jammieca D. Mott. During her free time, she loves binge-watching RuPaul’s Drag Race, going on walks, journaling, and baking.
