Emily Kondrat is a mezzo-soprano from Plano, Texas. She is currently pursuing bachelor’s degrees in both Vocal Performance and Music Education at the Eastman School of Music, where she recently performed selections from Alma Mahler’s Sieben Lieder with the Eastman Philharmonia, portrayed The Singer in Eastman Opera Theatre’s production of H&G, a great and terrible story, and appeared as the Alto Soloist in Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with the Eastman School Symphony Orchestra.
In the summer of 2025, Emily was an Apprentice Artist in Central City Opera's Bonfils-Stanton Foundation Artist Training Program, where she covered the lead role of Princess Winnifred in Once Upon a Mattress. The previous summer, she was a Studio Artist with Central City Opera, where she appeared as Edith in The Pirates of Penzance and covered the role of 2nd Nursemaid in Street Scene.
In recent Eastman Opera Theatre seasons, she has performed as Dido in Dido and Aeneas (2024), Mère Gérald in Dialogues des Carmélites (2024), Pythia in We’ve Got Our Eye on You (2023), and covered Ruggiero in Alcina (2023).
Emily is the recipient of Central City Opera's Iris Henwood Richards Young Artist Award, the 3rd Prize Winner of the 2025 Jessie Kneisel Lieder Competition, the Eastman School of Music Ornest Award, a winner of the 2024 Eastman School of Music Concerto Competition, Central City Opera’s John and Ginny Starkey Award, and the American Institute of Musical Studies’ Harold Heiberg Lieder Singer Prize.
