Swedish soprano Emma Berggren was a Bayreuth-Stipendium Wagner Society Gothenburg Opera Vocal Competition and the Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra & the Hennings-Fischer Foundation Young Artist Competition finalist.
Past operatic roles includes the title roles in Tosca and Suor Angelica, Mimì in La Bohème, Lady Macbeth in Macbeth, Violetta in La Traviata, the Celestial Voice in Don Carlo, Countess Ceprano in Rigoletto, Mercédès in Carmen, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, and Papagena and the Second Spirit in Die Zauberflöte. Ms. Berggren has covered roles such as Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly, Giorgetta in Il Tabarro, Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus, Gertrude and the Gingerbread Witch in Hansel and Gretel, the mezzo soprano soloist in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and Johanna in Sweeney Todd. Organizations that Emma has performed and covered roles with in Southern California includes Pacific Lyric Association, Lyric Opera of Orange County, Guild Opera Company, Ridgecrest Opera Guild, Riverside Lyric Opera, California Philharmonic and Golden State Pops Orchestra.
As a soloist Ms. Berggren has been featured in Maestro Skanör Falsterbo Musikförening summer music program in Sweden. Other highlights includes performing selections from Aida with Ridgecrest Chamber Music Society, selections from Puccini’s Madama Butterfly with Mission Opera, and Strauss’ Vier letzte Lieder at Woodley Concert Corner. Ms. Berggren was featured as a soloist with Cabrillo Chamber Orchestra for their ‘A Scandinavian Voyage’ concert performing Scandinavian songs including “Solveigs Sang” from Peer Gynt. Emma attended AIMS Opera Studio in Graz, Austria, and participated in Pacific Lyric Association's Young Artist Program.
Upcoming engagements include singing Leonora in Verdi’s Il trovatore with Ridgecrest Chamber Music Society and performing works by Heitor Villa Lobos with Cabrillo Chamber Orchestra.
