Erin Ridge is a lyric soprano and opera director currently based in Washington, DC. This season, she has performed with Opera Baltimore as an outreach artist, Baltimore Musicales as a recitalist on their Phenomenal Women and September song concerts, Annapolis Opera as Lucinda in their production of Into the Woods, Washington Concert Opera as a chorus member for Lakmé, and the Sewanee Summer Music Festival as an Opera Fellow.
Ridge’s most recent performance highlights include Mrs. Coyle in Britten’s Owen Wingrave (National Orchestral Institute), Sandrina in Mozart’s La finta giardiniera (Maryland Opera Studio), Kitty in A Gilbert & Sullivan Drawing Room (Victorian Lyric Opera Company), Vixen cover in Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen (Maryland Opera Studio), and Ginevera cover in Handel’s Ariodante (Maryland Opera Studio).
As an avid storyteller, Ridge has found particular purpose in dramatically coaching singers through character embodiment and narrative exploration. This passion has led her to directing and she will be honing her skills this season as the Assistant Director of La Boheme at Annapolis Opera with directors Joshua Horowitz and Alison Mortiz, and then will be continuing her exploration of La Boheme at the Maryland Opera Studio where she will return to direct their fall production.
Ridge holds degrees from Vanderbilt University and the University of Maryland, where she earned her B.M. in Voice Performance in 2015 and M.M. in Opera Performance in 2021.
