Tenor Ethan Ellis’s beautiful and pure tone, combined with his natural charisma and stage presence, led to many featured roles in school and community musical theatre while growing up in the Kansas City area. After majoring in Music and Political Science at Cornell College, he pursued his love of singing with a Master of Music in Classical Voice at Manhattan School of Music, studying with Neil Rosenshein and Christóferen Nomura, performing Schoolmaster in The Cunning Little Vixen and Ruggiero in Caccini’s La Liberazione di Ruggiero.
Since his graduation, he has resided in Manhattan, studying with Richard Barrett. Roles include Arturo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Spoletta in Tosca, Beppe in I Pagliacci (Regina Opera); Gastone in La Traviata (Snug Harbor Artist Residency); Tamino in The Magic Flute, Peter Quint in The Turn of the Screw (Chicago Summer Opera); Jupiter in Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld (Berlin Opera Studio); and Ernesto in Don Pasquale (Festival of the Aegean, cover). He has performed with the New Britain Symphony Orchestra's presentation of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 as well as at Carnegie Hall with MidAmerica Productions’ Ensemble Spotlight Series.
