Biography

Eunil Cho

Eunil Cho, hailing from South Korea, is a gifted versatile high lyric coloratura soprano with specialization in the melodies of Mozart, Bel canto repertoire, and German Lieder. Eunil Cho boasts an impressively wide vocal range and exhibits exceptional talent in the numerous styles of Bel canto Opera. In 2016, she brought to life the role of Cherubino in W. A. Mozart's 'Le Nozze di Figaro' at Yonsei University. A year later, she played Pastore in Puccini's 'Tosca,' performing with the Mooak Opera Company during the Korea Opera Festival at the Seoul Arts Center. In 2018, Eunil commenced her international professional journey at the Staatsoper Hannover in Germany, where she was selected as a young artist for their esteemed young artist program. During her Master's studies in London, Eunil Cho showcased her operatic prowess as Norina in "Don Pasquale" and as Adele in "Die Fledermaus". Upon embarking on her musical journey in the US, she was entrusted with the principal role of 'A Lady with a Hand Mirror' in Peabody Institute Opera's production of "Postcard from Morocco" by D. Argento, which she performed with distinction in November 2021. Furthermore, in November 2022, she also took on the principal role of ‘La Fée’ in J. Massenet's opera "Cendrillon" at the Peabody Institute Opera and in October 2023, she joined the cast of Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte" in a production by the Annapolis Opera. Her recent performance was the principle role of ‘Susanna’ in W. A. Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” at the Estate Theater in Prague, Czech Republic, in July 2024. Her recent performance was ‘Le Feu’ in Peabody Institute Opera’s production of ‘L’enfant et les sortilèges’ in November 2024. Her upcoming performances for the 2025–2026 season include appearing as the soprano soloist in Carmina Burana with The Masterworks Chorus in New Jersey in November 2025, and as Zerlina in W. A. Mozart’s Don Giovanni in February 2026.

Driven by her passion to become a sophisticated musician, Eunil Cho has participated in numerous masterclasses, learning from world-renowned singers such as Tenor Woo Kyung Kim, Sopranos Haeran Hong, Kathleen Kim, and Lucy Crowe. In 2017, she honed her skills at the summer young artist program at the North Sea Vocal Academy Forst of Scandinavia in Denmark. Eunil's exceptional talent earned her a coveted membership in the Song Circle at the Royal Academy of Music. Here, she showcased her prowess by performing pieces by Clara and Robert Schumann, at the Italian Cultural Institute in 2019. Furthering her accomplishments, she participated in the Academy Song Circle's 'Schubertiade' in January 2020. Eunil Cho has also proven her mettle at international competitions, being a competitor at the Mirjam Helin International Singing Competition in Helsinki in June 2019, 2024 and a finalist at the Daegu International Opera Awards in August 2019. She also won the 3rd Prize in the Peabody 21-22 Art Song Competition in November 2021.

Eunil Cho graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree, achieving Top Honours, from Yonsei University, where she was mentored by Kwan Dong Kim. She also studied for two years with the Metropolitan Opera opera singer Hei-Kyung Hong, when Soprano Hei-Kyung Hong was a visiting professor at the Yonsei University in Korea. She then completed her Master of Arts degree at The Royal Academy of Music in London, studying under the guidance of Mary Nelson and Christopher Glynn. During her time at the Royal Academy, she was a recipient of the Artistic Scholarship in Voice for the entire duration of her degree program. She recently earned her Master of Music degree from the Peabody Institute, where she studied with Ah Young Hong, and is currently pursuing an Artist Diploma at Rutgers University under the guidance of Dr. Bille Bruley.
