Biography

Evan Lazdowski

Cited as “impressive” in The Wall Street Journal, and praised in Opera News for his "warm, hearty bass-baritone," Evan Lazdowski is a Winner of the George London Competition and a recent graduate of the Pittsburgh Opera Resident Artist Program. His productions with the company have included Le nozze di Figaro (Figaro and Antonio), Ariodante (Il Re), Il barbiere di Siviglia (Don Basilio), Proving Up (Sodbuster), and La traviata (Marchese d'Obigny)
 

In the 2024-25 season, Mr. Lazdowski made his debut at The Santa Fe Opera, singing the role of Sergeant in La bohème. Additional engagements at the company included Le nozze di Figaro (Bartolo, cover) and Rigoletto (Usher). Other season engagements included the Mozart Requiem with the Yellow Springs Community Orchestra and Chorus in Dayton, Ohio. He was an Encouragement Winner of the Gerda Lissner Foundation Lieder/Song Competition and a Semifinalist of the Marcella Sembrich International Vocal Competition.
 

Further operatic credits include the world premiere of Rumpelstiltskin and the Unlovable Children (Rumpelstiltskin) at the Glimmerglass Festival, where he also joined the cast of Elizabeth Cree (Mr. Lister/Solomon Weil/Karl Marx/Voiceover/Witness #8); The Magic Flute (Speaker) at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis; La bohème (Colline) at Berkshire Opera Festival; Don Giovanni (Il Commendatore) at the Aspen Music Festival; The Rake’s Progress (Nick Shadow) with Juilliard Opera; and Sweeney Todd (Sweeney Todd, cover) at Chautauqua Opera.
 

Mr. Lazdowski has been a Finalist in both Houston Grand Opera’s Concert of Arias and the Dallas Opera National Vocal Competition. Other accolades include the OTSL Richard Gaddes Career Award, 2nd Place in the Dorothy Lincoln-Smith National Competition, and an Upper Midwest Region Encouragement Award in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition.
 

Mr. Lazdowski holds degrees from both The Juilliard School and Manhattan School of Music, and has also trained at Houston Grand Opera’s Young Artists Vocal Academy.
