Facundo Nahuel Aguilar (b. Buenos Aires, 1997) is a stage director and multidisciplinary artist based between Argentina and Europe, currently specializing in opera direction. His work integrates physical theatre, musical dramaturgy, and a collaborative creative process rooted in movement, image, and storytelling.
Facundo began his artistic journey as a performer, training in theater and folkloric dance. Over the years, he evolved from performer to director, drawing on over a decade of experience onstage to inform his work behind the scenes. He holds a degree in Theater from the Universidad Nacional de San Martín (UNSAM) and is currently completing a postgraduate diploma in Opera Stage Direction at the Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón, one of Latin America's most prestigious opera institutions.
As an assistant director, Facundo has collaborated on large-scale productions at Teatro Colón, including Nabucco, Faust, and La Bohème, where he gained hands-on experience with classical repertoire, technical rehearsals, and high-caliber artistic teams. Internationally, he has worked as a directing apprentice at the Berlin Opera Academy (Die Zauberflöte, 2023), and is actively expanding his practice across Europe.
He is particularly drawn to the intersection between music and gesture, using the human body as an interpretive bridge between sound and space. His directing style is marked by a sensitive approach to singers’ physicality, a dramaturgical rigor informed by musical structure, and a commitment to emotionally resonant storytelling.
Facundo has also led his own independent theater and opera projects, directing adaptations, workshop performances, and experimental works in unconventional spaces. His multidisciplinary background allows him to move fluidly between the worlds of dance, spoken theater, and opera, often working with performers across disciplines.
In addition to his directing practice, Facundo teaches acting and movement to young artists, and has served as a choreographer, rehearsal director, and movement coach. His educational philosophy emphasizes the connection between breath, impulse, and stage presence.
Facundo is currently developing new projects in opera and music theater, while actively pursuing directing and assistant directing opportunities throughout Europe. His goal is to create powerful theatrical experiences that combine musical precision with visual and emotional depth.
