Gabrielle Turgeon
(She/Her) Gabrielle Turgeon is a Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist at LA Opera. Upcoming performances include Meretaten in Akhnaten by Philip Glass and First Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, both with LA Opera. Other recent performance highlights include Micaёla in Carmen (Brott Opera) and Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly (LA Opera).

Biography

Gabrielle Turgeon

In the 2025-26 season, Turgeon will make her role debut as Micaëla in Bizet's Carmen at the Brott Music Festival. She will also be returning to LA Opera for her second season as a Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist, where she will perform as the Daughter of Akhnaten in Glass's Akhnaten, and First Lady in Die Zauberflöte under the baton of James Conlon.

 

In the 2024-25 season, Turgeon joined the roster of the esteemed Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program at LA Opera, where she made her company debut as Kate Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, performed Voice of the Fountain in Golijov’s Ainadamar and the Countess Ceprano and Page in Verdi’s Rigoletto, and covered Despina in Mozart’s Così Fan Tutte. 

 

In the 2023-2024 season, Turgeon made her debut at Des Moines Metro Opera, performing A Slave in Strauss’s Salome and covering Mélisande in Debussy’s
Pelléas et Mélisande.

In 2023, Turgeon was a finalist in Houston Grand Opera’s Eleanor McCollum Competition and was the recipient of the Ana María Martínez Encouragement Award. Turgeon was also the winner of the Michigan District in the 2023 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, and received an Encouragement Award at the Great Lakes Regional Round.


Turgeon earned her Master’s from the University of Cincinnati - Conservatory of Music , where she performed both the title role in Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen and Blanche de la Force in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites. Turgeon earned her Bachelor’s from the University of Toronto. She is also an alumna of the Aspen Music Festival and School, the Houston Grand Opera Young Artists’ Vocal Academy, and the Ravinia Steans Music Institute.
