Trombone
(She/Her) Grace Ng is an 19-year-old tenor trombonist. She is studying under Matthew Vaughn at Temple University. She graduated from The Juilliard School's Pre-College program where she studied with Demian Austin, Weston Sprott, and Burt Mason. Grace was awarded the 'Mark Freeh Scholarship' by Imperial Brass. She premiered Juilliard Pre-College composer Yuri Lee’s ‘Truly The Sun’. Grace has played with Opera Is in the Air Italiana’s orchestra, The Juilliard Pre-College Orchestra, Temple University’s Wind Ensemble, and the New Jersey Youth Symphony.

Biography

Grace Ng

Grace Ng is an 19-year-old tenor trombonist from New Jersey. She is currently studying under Matthew Vaughn and pursuing an undergraduate degree in trombone performance at Boyer College of Music at Temple University. She is a recipient of a Boyer College Award. Grace's foundation in music began at The Juilliard School's Pre-College program, where she studied with renowned trombonists Demian Austin, Weston Sprott, and Burt Mason from 2019 to 2023.

Grace was recently awarded the 'Mark Freeh Scholarship' by Imperial Brass and will be their assistant principal trombonist for the 2023-2024 season. She has also been named and awarded an ‘outstanding musician’ by her high school. 

Dedicated to promoting new music, Grace commissioned, collaborated, and premiered Juilliard Pre-College composer Yuri Lees’ new work ‘Truly The Sun,’ a piece inspired by women’s empowerment. 

Grace has played with many esteemed ensembles including: The Juilliard Pre-College Orchestra, Temple University’s Wind Ensemble, and the New Jersey Youth Symphony where she was principal trombonist for four years. She has also had the privilege of playing second trombone alongside distinguished Metropolitan Opera and New York Philharmonic musicians in Opera Is in the Air Italiana’s orchestra. 

She has participated in master classes led by musicians such as Raymond Mase and Kimberly Fisher. She has also taken part in the Valissima Institute conducting program and has previously attended the Philadelphia International Music Festival.

Grace has also had the opportunity to work with and study under Achilles Liarmakopoulos, Vernon Post, and Nicholas Schwartz.
