Mezzo-soprano Ms. Skinner is from Washington state. She recently recieved the Seattle Opera Guild Singers Development Award. Her most recent roles include Mercedes in Carmen, Stephano in Romeo et Juliette, The Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos, Jo in Little Women, Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, and Cesare in Giulio Cesare. She holds a Masters degree from Indiana University, and was a vocal fellow at Music Academy of the West, and Aspen Music Festival.

Praised by The Herold Times for her “strength and great vocal flexibility,” award winning Mezzo-soprano Grace Skinner has received 1st place in competitions including Seattle Opera Guild Singers’ Development Competition, Indianapolis Musicale Matinee Competition, and National Society of Arts and Letters Vocal Competition. In the coming 2022-2023 season, she will be a Resident Artist at Opera Naples and will be performing Stephano in Roméo et Juliette, Little Buttercup in HMS Pinafore, Mercédès in Carmen, and Woman #2 in Frida. Recently, she made her role debut as The Composer in Vashon Opera’s production of Ariadne auf Naxos. Additionally, she has worked with Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theater covering the title role of Carmen, as well as with The Atlanta Opera covering the title role of Giulio Cesare. Ms Skinner has also performed the roles of Jo in Little Women, Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, the title role in Giulio Cesare, Florence Pike in Albert Herring, La Principessa in Suor Angelica, and Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus. She premiered the role of Samantha in Mark Lanz Weiser’s opera The Place Where You Started.
Ms. Skinner has been a vocal fellow at prestigious young artist programs Music Academy of the West (2021, 2020), and Aspen Music Festival (2019). She earned her MM from the Jacobs School of Music at IU where she was also an Associate Instructor of Voice (2020). Ms. Skinner received her BM in voice at Portland State University. In addition to her career as a performer, Ms. Skinner teaches voice out of her studio in Vancouver, WA. She currently studies with celebrated soprano and vocal pedagogue Jane Dutton.
