Hailey Gutowski, soprano, from Green Bay, WI, is currently studying to get her Professional Studies Certificate in Voice Performance at San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) where she studies with Rhoslyn Jones and finished her Master’s degree in 2023. At the Conservatory, she performed the roles of Atalanta in Serse, Nella in Gianni Schicchi, and Le bergère in L’enfant et les sortilèges. She also did a lot of scene work, working on piece by a variety of composers from Mozart, Strauss, Jake Heggie, and Missy Mazzoli. Hailey also had the opportunity to perform the 12th movement of William’s Zodiac Suite with the SFCM Orchestra, directed by Edwin Outwater, and she worked with the composer David Conte to premier his art song set titled Two Winter Scenes in his faculty recital in 2022. Over the summers of 2023 and 2022, she attended the esteemed Chautauqua Opera Conservatory run by Marlena Malas where she studied the roles of Ciesca (Gianni Schicchi) and La Chauette (L’enfant et les sortilèges) in 2023 and was an understudy for Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) in 2022. In 2017, she graduated with her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Drake University in Des Moines, IA, where she studied with Leanne Freeman-Miller and performed the roles of Mrs, Meg Page (Falstaff) and Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) through Drake Opera Theater and Frasquita (Carmen) with The Opera Project Des Moines. During her time in Des Moines, she also performed with the Plymouth Church in Des Moines, being featured as the soprano soloist in Requiem by John Rutter and Messiah by Handel. Hailey was also the recipient of various awards including Drake University Orchestra Concerto Competition winner and Drake University Honors Recital winner. Hailey also helped run and direct a student-lead scenes organization during her undergrad that offered all the voice students at Drake University more character, scenes, and music learning abilities.
