My name is Hali, i am 16 years old and am based in Dundee, Scotland, UK. My childhood was filled with laughter and music, there was always music playing or singing or family playing the guitar or piano, it was no shock when i told my family i wanted to be a performer. There encouragement and love led me to the life i have now and the career path im choosing. My family are all so supportive and are behind me in every step i take through life. As a child i loved to sing and dance. I was frequently putting on performances for my family. They always said i was born to perform. At the age of 3 i began figure skating! I truly loved it and did it for a long time (8 years) i loved performing and giving my all on that ice. A trait that has carried through to present day. I started competing at the age of 7. I loved it, i learned to thrive under the stressful enviroment. It wasnt about winning for me. It was about performing. Becoming my character and going out and wowing the judges. I didnt care about a medal or a trophy. I just loved to skate. I has a blast. I eventually had to decide between skating and musical theatre. I chose musical theatre. But figure skating and ice dance will always have a special place in my heart. I have been performing and doing Musical Theatre since a very young age (6 years old) i have always loved it and have always dreamed of pursuing it as a career. As a child i was in many productions such as aladdin, the wizard of oz, annie, the jungle book. Being apart of these shows, unbeknownst to me was just the beginning of a beautiful journey. I love to sing, im constantly bursting into song! Ive been singing for as long as i can remember and its one of my favourite things to do. I also love dancing. Ive danced for a long time and have always found a joy and passion for it. I love expressing my self and exploring different scenarios through dance. Acting is something that has come more recently. I started acting properly when i went to high school, i did drama in school and immediately fell in love. This just confirmed what i knew all along, i wanted to pursue musical theatre. I grabbed any opportunity i could to learn new skills or perform in high school. I joined a different local theatre company, Stage Academy! A place i am forever thankful for. I have gained so many skills there and learned so much. It really built my confidence. I have also gained so many friendships and bonds for life which i am so grateful for. With Stage Academy i have been in shows such as, shrek, sweeney todd, rent, showcases and more. Ive also taken lead roles in productions such as Sister act, high school musical, shrek. All of which i am so proud to have been apart of. I am so lucky to have the experience i have and am so thankful for all the opportunities that have been thrown my way and that i continue to be granted. I knew that if i truIy wanted to go down this path and become a performer i had to do everything i could to boost my chances of being successful in this industry, so i decided to audition for RCS' Junior Programme (The royal conservatoire of scotland). As soon as i walked in the building for my audition i knew i belonged there. There was the disant sound of people practicing their instruments and singing. Dance classes were happening, acting workshops were going on next door. It was heaven. It was such a warm, welcoming place. And the staff were so lovely! The audition process was so nice and i felt so calm and welcomed the whole time. I was overjoyed when i found out i was accepted. It was the beginning of the best journey of my life. I am now on my second year on the Juniors programme and am a Student ambassador on the Musical Theatre programme and am loving every second. The training we get there is top tier. They prepare you for everything, they tell you everything you need to know for drama school or for the industry. We are trained in all areas and often have industry proffesionals come in to take workshops or classes. There are many performance opportunities throughout the year. Its amazing! Not only that the people are the best! I have met friends for life and have built so many relationships. We are all one big family. Our lecturers and teachers are the loveliest people and are true professionals. Its a joy and privilege to work with them. RCS is the best thing to ever happen to me and im so grateful. I cant wait to see whats next for me there. I am currently S5 in school. I have sat all my National 5s and passed them all, i am now currently sitting ny highers. My school is very supportive of the career i am heading for and are helping me get there. Music and drama have always been my favourite subjects. I think thats self explanatory. My teachers have done so much for me and continue to do so. I am so thankful for them and all the opportunities i have been given.
