Biography

Hannah Crawford

Hannah Crawford has been a singer since the beginning.  A recent graduate of the Wilfrid Laurier University Voice Program, Hannah started her vocal journey at the age of 7 and completed her Grade 7 RCM Vocal Exam with Belleville, ON voice teacher Robert Martin. As a proud Hastings Country resident, she participated in both high school and community performances. She was a choral scholar at Parkminster United Church and was a chorus member in Mendelssohn’s Elijah and John Rutter’s Requiem with the Bridge Street United Concert Series which provided further inspiration and training.

More recently, Hannah performed as Madame Lidoine in the 2021 live recording of Wilfrid Laurier University’s (WLU) production of Dialogue des Carmelite.  Also, with WLU, she performed in the chorus in the world premiere of Stephanie Martin’s The Llandovery Castle and studied the roles of Irma from Louise, Contessa from Le Nozze di Figaro, and Alice from Falstaff. As a developing concert artist, Hannah has performed as a soloist with the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra and was the soprano soloist for Vivaldi’s Gloria with the Sudbury Youth Orchestra and Cambrian College Choir.

From early music festival performances, Hannah developed her interest in competitions.  She received an honourable mention at the 2018 Ontario Provincial Music Festival and was the first-place winner of the 2020 Wilfrid Laurier Concerto Competition and was a winner of the 2018 Sudbury Symphony Orchestra Young Performers Competition. Hannah is a finalist this year in the Canadian Opera Company Ensemble Studio Competition and is up for a spot within the Canadian Opera Company Ensemble Studio.

Hannah is currently based in Toronto and studies with Elizabeth McDonald and Adrianne Pieczonka. Crawford is part of this season's Rebanks Family Fellowship and International Performance Residency Program for 2022/2023. She also co-hosts a weekly podcast - The Dreaming Divas - with her collaborator Simmie J Patoka as a way to educate and inspire her own generation of singers. Hannah is grateful to the community of friends and family who regularly support her artistic journey.
