Lyric coloratura soprano Hannah Madeleine Goodman, hailed for her “adept coloratura," “exquisite dynamics," and "riotous physical comedy," was most recently a Fort Worth Opera Hattie Mae Lesley Resident Artist for the 2024-25 season, where she sang Adina in The Elixir of Love and Clorinda in La Cenerentola (“aptly bright-toned” and “broadly portrayed with vaudevillian furor”), covered Amy in Little Women, and sang Mariana in the children’s opera Frida Kahlo and the bravest niña in el mundo. This past season she was also honored to sing with Maestro Marin Alsop and the Philadelphia Orchestra at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, China.
Originally from Oregon and based out of New York City, Ms. Goodman has sung across the United States and China, with opera companies including Fort Worth Opera, Portland Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Barn Opera / Opera Vermont, Salt Marsh Opera, and Opera Saratoga, and orchestras including the Philadelphia Orchestra, Bangor Symphony Orchestra, and Suzhou Symphony Orchestra. Favorite roles include Adina in L’elisir d’amore, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance, Sophie in Werther, and Papagena in Die Zauberflöte. She has also appeared in Amadeus Live with Los Angeles Opera, The Hunchback of Notre Dame with McCoy Rigby Entertainment at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, and as a costar on television’s Glee. Ms. Goodman was a semifinalist in the 2023 Camille Coloratura Awards and a quarterfinalist in the 2024 American Traditions Competition.
As an iSING! Festival Young Artist in China in 2019, Ms. Goodman is trained in Mandarin lyric diction. She continues to perform with the iSING! Festival and made her Lincoln Center debut in Echoes of Ancient Tang Poems with the Philadelphia Orchestra, performing in Philadelphia and New York City under the baton of Maestro Lio Kuokman in 2023, as well as in Beijing under the baton of Maestro Marin Alsop in 2024.
As a cabaret artist, singer-pianist, and Great American Songbook arranger, Ms. Goodman has performed in both LA and NYC, including at Sterling’s Upstairs at the Federal, the E Spot Lounge, Upstairs at Vitello’s, and Don’t Tell Mama. She has toured her solo Great American Songbook cabaret in New York, California, Connecticut, and Texas. She has also workshopped and premiered several new musicals, including at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, with the Los Angeles-based theater incubator New Musicals, Inc.
Ms. Goodman is an alumna of the University of Southern California, where she received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Arts and Graduate Certificate in Entertainment Law & Industry. She is a proud member of AGMA, Actors’ Equity, and SAG-AFTRA.
