Helena Raposo
Born in the Azores Islands, Portugal, Helena began her musical studies in classical guitar and holds a degree from the Ponta Delgada Conservatoire studying with Luciano Lombardi, Gianna de Toni, Hamilton Gonçalves, and others. In 2003 she began to study Lute and Theorbo and received her Bachelor of Music degree from Évora University with a scholarship from Fundação Medeiros e Almeida.

Biography

Helena Raposo

She completed her Master Degree (MMus) in Historical Performance Practice at the Early Music Department at Trinity College of Music, London in 2010. She studied the renaissance Lute, baroque Lute, baroque Guitar and Theorbo with David Miller at Trinity College of Music in London, continuo playing with James Johnstone and David Miller, and viola da gamba with Alison Crum. She studied Early Music theory and interpretation (Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque) with Phillip Thorby, Belinda Sykes, Stephen Preston, as well as Chamber Music with Rebecca Milles, Alison Crum, Timothy Tavers-Brown, Walter Reiter. ​Helena participated in several courses and masterclasses with internationally renowned scholars and performers such as Jacob Herigman, Frances Kelly, Dr. Anne Daye, John Crawford, Bart Coen, Dr Owen Rees, Dominique Vellard, Peter Phillips, Graham O'Reilly, among others. In 2012 Helena recorded Vivaldi's Lute Concerto for WESO Label (The West European Symphony Orchestra). In 2016 recorded for the Portuguese classical radio station - Antena 2, with the traverso player Joana Amorim, a piece that was composed for Helena and Joana by the Argentinian composer Daniel Schvetz. In 2017 Helena participated as a musician in the historical TV show "Madre Paula" at RTP1 - National Tv Station. Helena, in 2019, participated in the Documentary-Film "Il Sogno mio d'Amore" by Nathalie Mansoux and Miguel Cabral.
