Hiromi Omura has developed her international career as “a true singing actress: each performance brings fresh nuances and feels inhabited” (Australian Book Review) with “her singing, powerful, seamless and exquisitely beautiful“ (North Shore Times).  Highlights of the latest performances from 2017 to 2020 include her US debut as Cio-Cio-San at the Portland Opera, as well as her debut at the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago in Italy that is one of the most prestigious festivals in the world, both highly acclaimed with full standing ovation by audiences.  She portrayed deeply moving Cio-Cio-San also to the world premier of a new production in Tokyo, conducted by Andrea Battistoni, stage directed by Amon Miyamoto and costume designed by Kenzo Takada. This performance has been broadcasted on TV by NHK around Japan in 2020. In these latest seasons, Hiromi Omura was highly acclaimed by audiences and critics alike also in the title role of Norma and La traviata, both in Tokyo. Norma was performed at the Bunkamura Orchard Hall with Tokyo Philharmonic under the baton of Riccardo Frizza and La traviata at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan in Nikikai Opera with Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra conducted by Giacomo Sagripanti. Hiromi Omura has performed the title role in Madama Butterfly receiving great acclaim around the world in numerous theatres, such as the New National Theatre Tokyo, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Opera Israeli (Tel Aviv), Montreal Opera, Malaga, Cordoba, Santander, Metz (France), Lausanne Opera, Polish National Opera (Theatre Wielki), Savonlinna Opera Festival in Finland, Sydney Opera House, Melbourne State Theatre, Teatro Municipal Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, Latvian National Opera, Finnish National Opera, Vanemuine Theatre in Estonia, and others. She can be seen in 2 DVD productions of Madama Butterfly; the first one is stage-directed by Moffatt Oxenbould and the second one is new production directed by Alex Ollé (La Fura dels Baus), both released by Opera Australia. Other highly acclaimed performances include Elisabetta (Don Carlo, Verdi) at the New National Theatre Tokyo where she has also performed Micaëla (Carmen, Bizet) and Nedda (I Pagliacci, Leoncavallo), Tosca under the baton of Daniele Rustioni at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan with Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony, Norma in Bellini’s masterpiece for Lausanne Opera and Toulon Opera, Desdemona in Otello for Toulon Opera, Montreal Opera and Opera National de Lorraine where she has also performed Silvia (Zanetto, Mascagni) and la Contessa (Le nozze di Figaro, Mozart).  Liu (Turandot, Puccini), Amelia (Simon Boccanegra, Verdi) and Leonora (Il trovatore, Verdi) for Opéra de Montréal also brought great success. Sieglinde (Die Walküre, Wagner) at the Biwako Theatre in Otsu (Japan) and Ariadne (Ariadne auf Naxos, R. Strauss) for the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo-city are other repertoire credits. In the concert field, Hiromi Omura has sung the Deutsches Requiem (Brahms) at the City of London Festival with the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Tadaaki Otaka, Symphony No. 9 (Beethoven) with the Tokyo Philharmonic and Orchestre symphonique de Nancy, Missa Solemnis (Beethoven) with the Tokyo City Philharmonic, Mass in C Minor (Mozart) with the Tokyo Philharmonic, Messiah (Handel) with l’Orchestre de Picardie, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Elias (Mendelssohn) both with the Orchestre National de France under the baton of Kurt Mazur. She has been invited regularly for operatic gala concerts such as the Verdi gala in Montreal, Puccini gala with the Latvian National Opera, season opening gala concerts in New National Theatre Tokyo and New Year’s Opera concerts by NHK broadcast on live TV nationwide in Japan and elsewhere. Hiromi Omura was born in Japan, after obtaining her Master of Arts in singing at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, she moved to Italy, training in Mantua and Milan. She then transferred to France to join the Opera Studio CNIPAL in Marseille. She was the 1st prize winner in the Concours International d’Opéra de Marseille (2001) and won prizes in international competitions such as the Concours International de chant de Paris (Paris), Belvedere Competition (Vienna), Concorso Ismaele Voltolini (Buscoldo, Mantua/Italy), Concorso Gianfranco Masini (Reggio Emilia/Italy), among others. Hiromi Omura is a resident of France.
