San Francisco Bay Area native Ian Harris is a tenor based in New York. This year Ian performed as Ferrando in Vienna Opera Academy's production of Così fan tutte, and as the Hunter in Rusalka at the Manhattan School of Music. Earlier this year, Ian sang in a masterclass for David Jones.
Last summer, Ian performed the role of Roméo in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette with the Utah Valley Opera Festival. Ian also made his debut with Pocket Opera in San Francisco where he covered Fenton in their production of The Merry Wives of Windsor by Otto Nicolai.
Other recent performances include performing as the FBI Agent in the Manhattan School of Music’s production of An American Dream, Le Doyen de la Faculté in Utah Valley Opera Festival’s production of Cendrillon, Matthew in Craig Hella Johnson's Considering Matthew Shepard, and Jack in Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods. Ian has also been seen internationally at Igreja Santa Catarina in Portugal while singing Mozart's Coronation Mass as the tenor soloist.
In addition, Ian has performed with Andrea Bocelli and Lyric Theater San Jose. Outside of performing, Ian teaches private voice, piano, brass lessons, and instructs marching bands. Ian graduated from San José State University with a degree in Music Education with a heavy emphasis in performance. He continues his education by pursuing a master's degree in classical voice at The Manhattan School of Music. Ian studies voice with Dimitri Pittas.
