Iyari Lutz is a soprano that comes from a heavily musically influenced background. Inspired by her late grandmother’s angelic voice, she aims to make the most out of the opportunities and resources that were not available to her grandmother. Throughout Iyari’s childhood, she was constantly pushed to challenge herself and strive for excellence by her family and teachers in all things music related. From playing piano for her elementary school events to practicing tirelessly for TMEA All-State auditions Ms. Lutz stayed driven through the power of music. Thanks to the support of her educators, Iyari found herself at Michigan State University under the care of Anne Nispel, and in her senior year, she was brought under the wing of Carmen Bradford to explore a new found love of jazz. For the next four years of her life, Ms. Lutz juggled the responsibilities of working towards both her music and political science degrees while still keeping true to her love and passion for music. While pursuing a dual degree, she took the flexible approach to performance opportunities. This culminated in participating in the opera, Salsa Verde, State Singers, Chorale, Mosaic, and Jazz Combos. This allowed Iyari to explore diverse repertoire and enrich her artistic development in ways unique to her background.
