Emerging Finnish tenor Jacob Waselius graduated from Novia University of Applied Sciences, where he studied for tenor Lasse Penttinen, in June of 2023. Since graduating he has debuted the role of Aiolos in Olli Kortekangas' new opera Isfåglarna in Kokkola, Jakobstad and at the Finnish National Opera as well as performed as Spoletta in Puccini's Tosca for Vaasa Opera in January 2025. Outside the opera stage he regularly performs his own recitals together with pianist Richard Mitts.

Jacob Waselius performs his recital program consisting of songs and arias on the theme of travels and being on the road. Together with pianist Richard Mitts this is their fourth collaboration on such a project and this time they've expanded their season to take place over a longer time with at least seven concerts around Finland. The first concert will take place on the 5th of July 2025 in Barösund, Ingå. The program consists of works by composers such as Sibelius, Beethoven, Puccini and Merikanto.

In past seasons Jacob has performed as a soloist in Puccini's Tosca, Kortekangas' Isfåglarna, Kraus' Proserpin, Madetoja's Pohjalaisia, Mozart's Requiem, Händel's Messiah, Kentala's Morsiustaivas, Caccini's La liberazione di Ruggiero dall'isola d'Alcina and Stradella's La forza delle stelle, as well as many smaller productions during his studies. With a long choral background Jacob has sung as a chorus member in great productions of Verdi's Messa da Requiem, Mozart's Requiem, Cosí fan tutte and Die Zauberflöte and Händel's Messiah as well as the 2018 recordings of Beethoven's Mass in C-major and Meerestille und Glückliche Fahrt with Turku Philharmonic Orchestra for Naxos. Together with pianist Richard Mitts, Jacob gives recitals all over Finland, concentrating mainly on the Nordic traditional romances but also bringing the legendary Italian opera arias to his audiences. Born in Kauniainen he studied Maritime Management in Turku before returning to music with studies at Turun Konservatorio with Jouni Kuorikoski and continuing at Novia University of Applied Sciences with Lasse Penttinen graduating in June of 2023 to great acclaim.
