Jaewon Seo is a first-year Violin Fellow at the New World Symphony. His solo performances include recitals for special occasions, such as the Kiwanis Highlights Concert, Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival and Domain Forget Festival Gala Concert. He was also featured as soloist with the Ottawa Symphonic and Ottawa Chamber Orchestra in 2012 and 2015 performing Saint-Saëns’ Third Violin Concerto and Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. In 2016 he performed as a guest soloist with the National Arts Centre Orchestra playing Mozart’s Concerto No. 5 under the baton of Lucas Waldin. As a recipient of numerous awards from nationally acclaimed competitions, Mr. Seo was a prize winner in the Canada Music Competition for three consecutive years starting in 2012. Additionally, he was the winner of the Ottawa Chamber Concerto Competition in 2015, performing the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with the Ottawa Chamber Orchestra.
Mr. Seo has enjoyed his orchestral experiences at numerous music festivals in North America. As part of the Music Academy of the West (Santa Barbara, CA) and the National Arts Centre Orchestra (Ottawa, ON), his memorable performances include Mozart Violin Concerto No. 5 in A major. He has also participated in the Young Artist Program of the National Arts Centre, Encore Music Festival and Domaine Forget International Festival in Quebec City, Canada.
Over the years, Mr. Seo has received master class instructions from internationally renowned violinists and musicians, including Pinchas Zukerman, Glenn Dicterow, Martin Beaver, Paul Kantor, Vadim Gluzman and many others. He completed his bachelor of music degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studied under Ivan Zenaty, Joan Kwuon and Phillip Setzer. Mr. Seo completed his master of music degree in violin performance studies at Rice University with Kathleen Winkler.
