Jake Tipoff, baritone from Frisco, TX, is a gifted musician with talent in spades.
As an undergrad at the University of North Texas, Mr. Tipoff received the James Mckinney award at the DFW spring division of NATS, winning first place in the upper college level classical division. While there, Mr. Tipoff gained great stage experience from a diverse range of roles including Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, Harry Easter from Kurt Weill’s Street Scene, Harašta in The Cunning Little Vixen, The Count in Le Nozze di Figaro, Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, the title role in Don Giovanni, and more. One specific production including a Rodgers and Hammerstein revue in which Mr. Tipoff played the leading man. Mr. Tipoff enjoyed several touring events across the state for the opera program during his time at UNT.
Mr. Tipoff went on to reprise the role of Count from Le Nozze di Figaro at Red River Lyric Opera in the summer of 2022. Later that year he sang Guglielmo in a new production of Così fan tutte with Music On Site Opera Co. in Wichita, KS.
After taking some time off to focus on other work following the post-covid world, Mr. Tipoff carefully maintained his voice and musicianship with several faculty. He has performed several works for churches in the Dallas area, being a baritone soloist in Fauré’s Requiem, Duruflés Requiem, John Stainer’s The Crucifixion, selections from Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and more. He’s learned several song cycles, including Des Knaben Wunderhorn by Mahler, Die Schöne Müllerin, Schwanengesang, and Winterreise by Schubert, and L’horizon chimérique by Fauré. Mr. Tipoff has performed a few of these cycles locally in the Dallas area to much acclaim.
