Soprano Jasmine Ismail holds a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance from Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where she studied under Patty Thom. She went on to earn a Masters degree in Classical Voice from Manhattan School of Music and a Professional Studies Certificate in Classical Voice from Manhattan School of Music, where she studied under Ruth Golden. Her most recent engagements include Charleston Opera Theater where she performed in the play Masterclass (Sharon Graham). Utah Festival Opera where she performed in Giuseppe Verdi's Aida (High Priestess), Wagner's Lohengrin (Page cover/ensemble) and Ned Rorem's Our Town (ensemble). Previously, she attended Utah Festival Opera where she covered Pamina in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, performed in Bizet’s Carmen (ensemble) and Aaron Copland’s The Tender Land (ensemble). Other roles include W.A. Mozart's le nozze di Figaro (Countess), Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld (Diana) and Faye Chiao's Katie: the Strongest of the Strong (Marina). Her recent awards include an Encouragement Award from the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition where she competed in the South Carolina district. Previous awards include an Encouragement award from the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, the Audience favorite award in the Michael Ballam Vocal Competition in Logan, Utah, and Second Prize in the Alan M. And Joan Taub Ades Vocal Competition. Ms. Ismail currently resides in Philadelphia and is under the tutelage of Bill Schuman. She will begin her residency with the Academy of Vocal Arts this coming September. Her upcoming engagements include W.A. Mozart's le nozze di Figaro (Susanna) and Verdi’s Falstaff (Nanetta), both with AVA.
