Jason Garcia-Kakuk is a tenor from Queenstown, Maryland. He was most recently seen as a studio artist with Finger Lakes Opera, where he portrayed the role of Colin in The Anonymous Lover (Bologne), and Matteo Borsa & Duke of Mantua (cov.) in Verdi’s Rigoletto. Prior engagements in his season include Ruiz Alonso in Ainadamar (Golijov) and H in H&G (Allen Shawn) with Eastman Opera Theatre. Jason also had the pleasure of being a finalist for the Friends of Eastman Opera & the Jessie Kneisel Lieder competitions earlier this year. This Fall you can find him with ArtPark in Lewiston, NY performing as Der Steuerman in Wagner’s Die Fliegende Holländer and finishing up his master’s degree at The Eastman School of Music.

In Jason’s past season he was at Opera Baltimore in the Spring of 2024 as Mr. Angel in The Impresario(Mozart) that featured a reworked libretto by Erik McKeever, and as Triquet & Lensky(cov.) in Eugene Onegin (Tchaikovsky). 2023 credits include work as a guest artist with Curtis Opera Theatre, playing Odoardo in Ariodante (Händel) with Curtis Opera Theatre, and joining their ensemble for L’elisir d’Amore (Donizetti). Jason is 2022 graduate from the Boyer College of Music & Dance at Temple University with a B.M. in Voice Performance. Credits during his studies include Pelléas in Impressions de Pelléas (Debussy), Basilio(cov.) in Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart) with Temple University Opera Theater, and ensemble for Opera Philadelphia’s concert production of Oedipus Rex(Stravinsky).

Past summer programs include roles such as The Lamplighter in The Little Prince (Portman) with Teen Opera Initiative of Annapolis (defunct) in 2019, Beadle Bamford in Sweeney Todd and Monostatos in Die Zauberflöte with Bethesda Summer Music Festival in 2017.

Other education summer programs include Classical Singers in New York in June 2022 & Boston University Tanglewood Institute 2018.

 When Jason isn’t singing, he enjoys playing his electric & acoustic guitars, portrait and nature photography, reading, and watching the latest shows.
