Joe Klinger
Under the tutelage of Norman Spivey, he was seen with Penn State Opera Theater performing the role of Guillot in a “pop-up opera” version of Offenbach’s The Lantern Marriage, performed in English. He was also engaged to sing the roles of Moralès and Dancaïre in Penn State’s production of Bizet’s Carmen. Other operatic portrayals include workshop scenes from Debussy's Pelléas and Mélisande and Stefano in Donizetti’s Viva la mamma with Oberlin Opera Theater, OH.

Biography

Joe Klinger

With Oberlin Opera Theater, Joseph also performed the role of Melisso in Handel’s Alcina. Joseph is equally noted for his interpretation of contemporary works. Recently, he was seen in a workshop performance of a new opera titled Leavings at Penn State, which featured music and libretto written by Penn State faculty. In 2017, he was featured as the baritone soloist with the Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble in their performance of Stephen Hartke’s Tituli at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Joseph has performed with Oberlin College Choir, Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble, and with Susquehanna Festival Choir. Along with performance, Joseph also enjoys teaching voice, and maintains a thriving studio. Joseph recently completed a M.M. in Voice Pedagogy and Performance at Penn State and holds a B.M. in Vocal Performance from Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where he studied with mezzo-soprano Lorraine Manz.
