Fresh off a recording and music video series at the acclaimed Abbey Road Studios in London, John Ertman is back in New York and over the moon to make his NYC solo debut at 54 Below!
Teaming up with top Broadway talent, dear friends, and family, John will take you on a musical journey through the many eras that define his writing and performance style. Featuring all six songs performed at Abbey Road, as well as selections from his musicals Alone, Mews, and Moriarty (co-written with Joseph Mathusek), John will share his unique lyrical and musical stylings and demonstrate how his process incorporates all the music he loves into a truly unforgettable pop and MT sound. Directed by Mary Tomei (King of Pangaea at NAMT), with music direction by Patrick B. Phillips (Suffs).

In a powerhouse cabaret evening, Thomas Sellwood, of Broadway and West-End fame, will host top Broadway and West End performers (Candi Boyd, Tom Schmid, Debora Dutcher, and more!) singing popular Broadway tunes. In addition, Thomas' vocal group, Tom And The Moms, will also take a featured role, performing original arrangements of Broadway hits.
Thomas is an energetic performer and host whose "magical voice," according to Audiofile Magazine, is "outstanding." He is also well known around suburban New Jersey as a performer and community leader, whose work and artistry brings people together for the love of music and theatre. He hopes to bring a similar sense of joy to New York City.

A concert version of Alone: A New Musical, penned by John Ertman and Joseph Mathusek, is presented May 21 at 7 PM at 54 Below.
Featuring selections from the coming-of-age musical's original score and a 10-piece orchestra, the evening boasts the talents of Taylor Iman Jones (Six), Zachary Noah Piser (Dear Evan Hansen), Kim Onah (& Juliet), Ellis Gage (James and the Giant Peach), Remy Laifer (Fiddler on the Roof national tour), Amanda Gabriel (An Officer and a Gentleman national tour), Rachel Arianna (Saturday Night Live), Kate Coffey, John Ertman, Stephanie Israelson, Claire Kwon (Almost Famous), Sarah-Anne Martinez (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin), Joseph Mathusek, Kaela O’Connor, Coby Oram, Ben Rosenbach, Carson Stewart (The Notebook), Natalie Pereira, Katherine Ertman, Harrison O’Callaghan, and Jonah Ruderman.
Susanna Wolk directs with music direction by Patrick B. Phillips.
Alone follows a group of high school friends, who become the center of their small-town gossip chain after a summer romance goes awry.
The concert is produced by Picardee Productions LLC and Penny for Thought Productions, Rachel Arianna, and Alexander Kariotis.

Description
Itching’ For an Itch: The Mosquitical follows Squit, an alcoholic mosquito who quarrels with the moral conundrum of biting humans and her own existence. Why do female mosquitos only live for 40 days? Why do male mosquitos live for 10? Who is this human that she is empathizing with? More importantly, when can she get another drink. This story follows the short existential crisis of a bug.

Biography
is a professional Actor, Director, Writer, and Recording Artist based in New York City. John is a member of professional songwriting team Ertman & Mathusek. Together with collaborator, Joseph Mathusek, John has written two full-length musicals: Alone: A New Musical (Co-Music & Lyrics, Book - American Music Theatre Project, 54 Below, Concept Album), and Mews: The Musical! (Co-Music & Lyrics - Commission, The Tank and Institute for American Musical Theatre). John began his writing career in commercial music, penning pop songs starting at the age of 9. He is in the middle of releasing his first EP, Idle Growth and has recorded 10 additional songs. In addition, John traveled to London to record an EP at the acclaimed Abbey Road Studios. John Ertman: The Abbey Road Live Session will be out later this year. John has also recently entered into a collaborative agreement for TikTok performer and influencer Anne Bulgiari to write new music for her first EP.
As an actor, John's most recent performances include: John Ertman & Friends (54 Below), Mother Knows Best (Green Room 42), Alone: In Concert (54 Below), an original role in Fifty-Seven (APAP 2023), and Newman the Human in Itchin’ For An Itch: The Mosqutical (NYMTF).
John is an award-winning director of immersive and musical theater whose recent work includes: Claws (Winner of 2022 LonelyWolf Film Festival Best New Media Award, 2021 IndieCade Performance Award, and 2021 FIVARS Film Festival Audience Choice for Best Interactive Experience), Next Time (Official Selection of 2021 FIVARS Film Festival), and Each and Every (Official Selection of 2021 Denver Film Festival). He is currently in the release period for his first EP, Idle Growth, with a second record in production.
By night, John works as the Assistant Studio Manager of Sellwood Studio in Madison, NJ. This extracerricular performing arts school run by Broadway and West End actor, Thomas Sellwood, boasts top-tier instruction from working professionals on Broadway and in New York's prestigious opera scene. Sellwood is also a chief incubator of Ertman & Mathusek's early development works.
John graduated from Northwestern University with a BA in Theatre & Legal Studies, a Certificate in Music Theatre, and a Module in Creating the Musical. John is a proud Member of Actors' Equity Association.
