Biography

John Ertman

is a professional Actor, Director, Writer, and Recording Artist based in New York City. Most recent performances include: Newman the Human in Itchin’ For An Itch: The Mosqutical (NYMTF), Jack in Alone (American Music Theatre Project), Greeter (voice) in help!/Rebozo (Candle House Collective), and IV in Interim (Northwestern University). John is an award-winning director of immersive and musical theater whose recent work includes: Claws (Winner of 2022 LonelyWolf Film Festival Best New Media Award, 2021 IndieCade Performance Award, and FIVARS Film Festival Audience Choice for Best Interactive Experience), Next Time (Official Selection of 2021 FIVARS Film Festival), and Each and Every (Official Selection of 2021 Denver Film Festival). John is also a prolific writer for musical theatre and pop music. He has written one full-length musical, Alone (Co-music/lyrics, book) which received a world premiere reading with the American Music Theatre Project and is developing in New York City. Upcoming projects include: Alone- The Concept Album (Power Station New England) and Alone: In Concert (Green Room 42). He is currently in the release period for his first EP, Idle Growth, with a second record in production. John graduated from Northwestern University with a BA in Theatre & Legal Studies, a Certificate in Music Theatre, and a Module in Creating the Musical. John is a proud Member of Actors' Equity Association.
