Biography

John Feather

Life long love of opera as well as other forms of theatre and music, esp. punk/alternative rock, symphony and chamber music. My second opera, THE PASSION OF LT. DE SEZIGNEY, was chosen by NANOworks of Atlanta, Ga. to be premiered this August. Worked with director Stephanie Havey on revisions. Due to CoronaVirus, performance has been postponed until Summer of 2021. Favorite operas: DIE MEISTERSINGER (Wagner), NOZZE DI FIGARO (Mozart) and, this week, THE SNOW QUEEN (Hans Abrahamson). Favorite albums: PORGY AND BESS excerpts with Leontyne Price, KIND OF BLUE by Miles Davis, ZEN ARCADE by Husker Du, CRAZY RHYTHMS by The Feelies ​Have volunteered at WOLF TRAP OPERA for seven years. Organized and maintain library of scores and audio materials. Have made presentations for studio artists on singers and recordings of the past. Work with singers to find new and voice appropriate song/arias. Voluntarily worked with Robert Wood of URBAN ARIAS to raise funding for world premiere cast recording of Greg Spears / Kathryn Walat's PAUL'S CASE. Attended recording sessions August 2018. Recording released January 2019.
