Joie T. Kuo is a 15 year-old cellist from New Jersey. She studies with Clara Minhye Kim in the Juilliard School’s Pre-College Division and has previously studied with David Geber, Sofia Nowik, and Marnie Kaller. She has performed at venues such as Peter J. Sharp Theater, Weill Hall, and various Lincoln Center halls. Aside from solo performance, Joie is also actively involved in chamber and orchestral music at Juilliard. She regularly performs with the Juilliard Pre College Symphony under the batons of Adam Glaser, Tito Munez, and Daniella Candillari. In addition, she performs in quartets and piano trios coached by Jia Kim and Jennifer Combs. Joie spent the summers of 2022 and 2023 at the Heifetz International Music Institute’s senior division, studying with professors such as Amit Peled. Hans Jensen, and Colin Carr. Additionally, she frequently participates in competitions and has won top prizes in the IGMC competition, Bravura and PIMF Concerto Competitions, and the VIMF competition.
