Countertenor Jordan Jones, a native of Saint Louis, Missouri, is a masters’ student at the Manhattan School of Music under the tutelage of Mark Schnaible. This past year, he has performed as Donna in Handel’s Rinaldo as well as Sesto in a semi-staged production of act I of Handel’s Giulio Cesare. During his undergraduate degree at the USC Thornton School of Music, he performed as an alto soloist in Kaija Saariaho’s La Passion de Simone at USC, as well as the role of Le Comte in Massanet’s Cherubin also at USC. Fall of 2022, Jordan covered the role of Refugee in Flight by Jonathan Dove. He also performed in the Los Angeles Opera Chorus in their season’s production of Omar by Rhiannon Gibbens and Michael Abels. He made his professional opera debut playing Marie’s Son in Berg’s opera Wozzeck at the Saint Louis Symphony in 2012. The following season, he performed in the world premiere of Champion by Terence Blanchard at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis where he played Little Emile. He has also performed with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis in their productions of La Bohème in the children’s chorus. Recently, he was a semifinalist at the SAS Performing Arts Competition. He also won the Judges’ Award at the Opera Buffs Artists of the Future Competition. Last year, he was also a semifinalist for the Schmidt Undergraduate Voice Competition.
