Biography

Jordan Loyd

Tenor Jordan Loyd (he/they) is a proud fat, queer, non-binary, Mexican-American artist who's eager to do his part in shaping the future of classical music and opera.

Jordan is very excited to be making his mainstage debut at the Santa Fe Opera in the summer of 2023 where he will be singing the role of 'The Gamekeeper' in Dvořák's Rusalka. Additionally, as a returning apprentice at the Santa Fe Opera, he will be covering his first Wagner role, 'Der Steuermann', in Der fliegende Holländer.

Summer of 2022 brought Jordan to Santa Fe for the very first time, where he covered the role of 'Dr. Caius' in Verdi's Falstaff as well as playing 'Scaramuccio' in scene from Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos.

Jordan is graduate work at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music, where he was fortunate to play the role of ‘Jeník’ in Smetana’s The Bartered Bride as well as singing ‘The Evangelist’ in the North American premiere of Sixten’s Johannespassionen.

When Jordan isn’t singing, he is often playing video games, watching films and television shows, or listening to podcasts and horror audiobooks.
