Jordan Twadell is a soprano currently pursuing her Master of Music degree at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University where she studies under the tutelage of Professor Nova Thomas.
In the summer of 2025, Jordan joined the Janiec Opera Company (JOC) of the Brevard Music Center, where she performed First Lady in The Magic Flute (Mozart) and covered the Soprano Soloist in Vaughan Williams’ A Sea Symphony. The previous summer, as a Schmidt Vocal Arts Alumni Grant recipient, she portrayed Lucy Brown in Weill’s The Threepenny Opera and covered Mimì in Puccini’s La Bohème, also with the JOC.
Jordan earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, studying with Salvatore Champagne. While at Oberlin, she was a finalist in the 2023–2024 Oberlin Senior Concerto Competition and a recipient of the Louis and Marguerite Bloomberg Greenwood Prize. Her operatic work included Lady Billows in Britten’s Albert Herring and the role of Quinn in the world premiere of Alice Tierney by Melissa Dunphy. In spring of 2023, Jordan made her professional operatic debut in the same work with Opera Columbus.
In the 2025–2026 season at Rice, she looks forward to performing Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte (Mozart) and Alice Ford in the concert cast of Verdi’s Falstaff.
