Biography

Julia Woodward

A soprano on the rise, Julia Rose Woodward, is making waves early on in her operatic career. This season she can be seen virtually with Opera Xpress as Marla the Koala in Anna Young’s Abrazo de oso, a new bilingual children’s opera! She joins the chorus of Opera Carolina for their 2021 production of Douglas Tappin’s I Dream. Previous credits include: Musetta (cover) in Puccini’s La Boheme, Die Zweite Dame in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte with the Utah Vocal Arts Academy, Frasquita (cover) in Georges Bizet’s Carmen with Opera Carolina, Maguelonne in Pauline Viardot’s Cendrillon, The Maid in Gian Carlo Menotti’s Amelia al ballo, Street Singer in Leonard Bernstein’s MASS with Opera at USC; Zerlina in W.A. Mozart’s Don Giovanni with the Franco-American Vocal Academy in Salzburg, Austria. Scene credits include Die Zweite Dame in Die Zauberflöte, La Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro and Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte. Educational outreach credits include: Despina in Davies’ The Three Little Pigs with FBN Inc. and The Pig/Teen Duck in Duncan’s The Ugly Duckling with Opera Xpress. In addition she has performed alongside Kristin Chenoweth in her show, My Love Letter to Broadway in New York City. Expanding into the concert and recital repertoire, she joined the Charlotte Master Choral as a soloist for their 2019 presentation of Considering Matthew Shepard. Ms. Woodward was chosen to sing by esteemed vocal coach, Arlene Shrut, at the Honors Recital for University of South Carolina’s School of Music in 2018.
