Kailani is from Greenville, South Carolina and started her first harp lesson at age seven. She and her twin sister, Susan, started their ensemble, Soothing Reflections LLC, at age nine and made their first CD at age eleven. Kailani has won first place three times in national high school harp competitions, placed twice in a national chamber ensemble competition, was the First Place Winner of the Rise Symposium at Converse University in 2023 (in Music Performance), and a 2024 Winner of the Charleston International Music Competition.
Kailani has also been a performer with an American folk music group for five years, the traditional Celtic harpist for the Irish "Return to the Green" festival in Greenville, South Carolina, and harpist for a traditional Hawaiian music concert at the famous Kawaiahao Church of the Monarchs in Honolulu.
Kailani has been a featured soloist in The Greenville Summer Chamber Music Ensemble, and harpist for the Young Artist Orchestra, Spartanburg Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, and Furman University Orchestra. She was the principal harpist for the Converse Symphony and performed Mozart's Flute and Harp Concerto with the orchestra her senior year.
Kailani has been or presently is a harpist for professional orchestras in South Carolina and Ohio including Aiken Symphony, Greenville Symphony, South Carolina Philharmonic, Spartanburg Philharmonic, Firelands Symphony, Lima Symphony, Tuscarawas Philharmonic, and Canton Symphony. In January 2025 she became principal harpist of Arizona Pops and a substitute harpist with New World Symphony (August 2025).
In 2022, Kailani served with Varna International as an assistant to the directors, harpist, and librarian; she returned to the festival (2024) as a special guest artist. That summer she also studied with Ms. Anna Kate Mackle (The Florida Orchestra principal harpist) at Eastern Music Festival, performed under the baton of Maestro Gerard Schwarz, and was a finalist in the 2024 EMF Concerto Competition.
Kailani completed her B.M. in Harp Performance, Magna Cum Laude at Converse University studying under John Wickey (Greenville Symphony principal harpist). She has taken masterclasses with prominent harpists including Dr. Lynne Aspnes and Dr. Susann McDonald. Kailani is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Harp Performance at The Cleveland Institute of Music where she studied under Yolanda Kondonassis (considered one of the world's premier solo harpists and the world's most recorded classical harpist). She is completing her degree under The Cleveland Orchestra principal harpist, Trina Bourne. Kailani plays on an ebony Style 30 Lyon and Healy pedal harp.
