Biography

Kate Fogg

Praised for her "rich coloratura" (Ludwig Van Toronto) Kate Fogg (she/her) is a soprano from Dedham, Maine. She is a recent graduate of the Schulich School of Music at a at McGill University where she completed a Master of Music student in Voice and Opera. She is a student of Tracy Smith Bessette. 

Kate was the first-place winner (25k) of the 2025  Wirth Vocal Prize Competition in Montreal, QC. 

Recent Opera McGill credits include Clara Johnson in Adam Guettel’s The Light in the Piazza, La Fée in Massenet’s Cendrillon, and various roles in Sondheim at Segal. 

Last season, Kate sang Mary Warren in Opera in the Pines’ immersive reimagining of The Crucible and the Governess in Opera5’s young artist production of The Turn of the Screw.

This summer, she returns to Opera5 to perform various roles in William Finn’s Elegies and cover Little Sister in the premiere of Rachel Krehm and Ryan Trew’s new opera, Come Closer.

Kate holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Maine, where she studied with baritone Isaac Bray. Her UMaine opera credits include Madame Herz in Mozart’s Der Schauspieldirektor.

She was also the recipient of the 2021 and 2023 NATS Maine Chapter Ellen Chickering Award. Her regional credits with Penobscot Theatre Company include Mamma Mia, 9 to 5: The Musical, and Matilda: The Musical.

Kate lives in Portland, Maine with her street kitties, Auggie and Linus.
